goat hair?squirrel?horse hair?

That is what they use to make brushes for cosmetics,if you are vegan and don't know much about makeup I bet your having a heart attack. Most of my life I used eye shadow applicators and cheap synthetic brushes cause that is what I had access to when I was allowed to wear makeup.I didn't know the difference between "natural" and synthetic brushes until my older sister Tanika gave me more exposure about cosmetics.I knew how to do my makeup well and learning from my sister made makeup application easier,I took what I learned and made it my own.As everyone been reading my blogs it also a journey of switching my makeup kit into cruelty free and vegan due to my belief because I feel its unnecessary to torture animals for cosmetics, cleaning items, etc. If we need a cure I'm ok with animals being used and it could save someones life,I know PETA will not like me and who cares they are crazy anyways. If you check out other sites and blogs they are neutral don't judge you like PETA.The only thing I like about PETA is for their huge database on cruelty free products and how to shop.Back to the brushes,I gone threw my makeup of course to see what kind of brushes I have done research and if you want cruelty free status it involves brushes and I thought I had 100 % synthetic brushes cause that's what I could afford,I didn't buy them to be cruelty free at the time it was affordable. The brushes by Face Secrets sold at Sally's Beauty Supply and I found out most of the products they carry makes PETA scream.Face Secrets and most brands use small percentage of synthetic and majority of the time they add goat hair.I have few Sephora brushes and they are 100% synthetic, the cosmetics are not cruelty free.I do have cruelty free products from Sephora since its recent they changed the status to sale in China. If you are new to reading my blog,China and Brazil(new info) require animal testing to sale products in their country,if you see cosmetics made by China and Brazil its not cruelty free.I have brushes my secret santa sent me two years ago Beaute Basics is cruelty free and I love the brushes I'm happy I have a set that is harmless.

Now the controversy of "natural" aka animal fur and hair brushes, let me try to make this brief PETA claims animals such as squirrels get captured and killed during the process to get their fur.Horses are killed for their flesh and take their hair during the process,if you want more info Google PETA and cruelty free brushes. PETA have a huge following of vegetarians and vegans what they say is true,I wouldn't listen to them much cause they are extreme and dramatic about being cruelty free and you are a bad person for eating meat or using products that harm animals. There are companies and consumers claim animals weren't harmed during the process of getting their hair for brushes and sometime PETA blow things out of their a**es.There are companies out there that are good to animals and take fur without killing,if you try to tell that to a vegan its pointless, just use synthetic brushes on them and collect your money. I wouldn't trust what companies say most of the time it's a pain to do research on them,I'll use the brands I trust. If you came up to me and say you don't care about animal testing or animal fur brushes I won't be angry cause its my personal belief and you have the right to your own.The only way it will be a problem if you go around tell me my belief is dumb and your belief is right.

Makeup artists' view on brushes from what I've read that annoy me.Fur brushes are the way to go and its not right cause I don't have problem with synthetic brushes. It depends on the quality and how you do makeup.Well the brushes I currently own are synthetic with fur and few sets and brushes 100% synthetic.Synthetic is good for liquids and can't hold product which is not true for me,"natural" brushes hold more product, easier to use,and gives a nice finish. So can synthetic brushes its all about quality and I didn't have problems. It depends on the artist at the end of the day and if "natural" or  synthetic brushes work for you that's awesome.Don't go around telling people that one way is better and be neutral, most of us are starting out and don't have a huge budget.I like to share about budgeting when it comes to makeup cause there is someone out there that can spend below 20 bucks on cosmetics. If you don't care about animal testing and want brushes I'll help you out the best I can,if your budget is not huge your are most likely will have to buy synthetic or fur blend brushes.Plus if you have allergies and rubbing fur on your face could make it flair up,if they make brushes out of dog and car fur I would be miserable.

List of brushes that have "natural" or fur blend

Face Secrets sold at sally beauty supply

MAC

Avon

Mary Kay

Sephora own synthetic brushes and might have a few that are not

check out vegan sites for a bigger list and if you are not sure ask if the brushes are synthetic or not.Personally I wouldn't tell a seller I want cruelty free products and what not, there are places that work on commission and don't want to lose a sell.People out there can be dishonest if they want to make a buck.

Now on to cruelty free brushes

E.L.F. uses synthetic taklon its a nice synthetic blend.I should give E.L.F. brushes a try then

ECO Tools and they use environment friendly materials and they give back to make the environment better.

Too Faced

Morphe Brushes they have vegan and cruelty free options.

Beaute Basics

Hard Candy

Urban Decay

Branded J

Aveda uses synthetic taklon

Today I didn't feel like going threw my makeup kit and I would like to share my sisters page hair and makeup by Tanika, shes located in Vista if your close.

Do you know whats in your makeup?

As I'm doing research on cruelty free makeup I came across some videos about people throwing away products because there's lead in it.Yep lead the thing that is in makeup that can cause "cancer" and most vegan products use all natural things, that's why some people switch to vegan or cruelty free to avoid things that can harm your body.Being proactive about your health is nice, when I viewed the videos I think to myself those people will throw away makeup and go eat at McDonalds,I'm not saying that for everyone. There are things around us that can harm us such as food, houses, even breathing the air could be dangerous. When you read the labels on food or products you consume you stand there and think "WHAT THE F**K IS CYCLOHEXASLIOXANE OR I CAN'T READ/PRONOUNCE THESE "SCIENTIFIC" WORDS!!!Companies uses words that don't make sense to the general public so they don't lose profit and people won't be freaked out,if you put lead, rat poison, and cyanide on the label would you buy the product,NO WAY!!!!I gone threw the makeup I have and of course I don't know what the ingredient is and can't read it so I Goggled some words from the Emori and Wet'N'Wild blush, magnanese, propylparaben, cyclohexaslioxane, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate.

Magnanese-chemical in stainless steel, hmmm does that sound safe?

propylparaben-it disturbs reproductive functions

cyclohexaslioxane-its harmful to fish and wildlife.......

aluminum starch octenylsuccinate-have substances that can be harmful to the body.

Am I freaked out,not really cause there are other things that can harm me in the future other than makeup. If you have a family history of getting cancer or illnesses I would watch what I put in my body. From the information I looked up lead doesn't leave your body no matter what you do,thats a scary thought and tomorrow I'll forget about it when I put on makeup. If you want to look up what brands have lead Google it and MAC have it in the lipsticks.

I took pics of the labels from Emori and Wet N Wild

Whats in my makeup kit?I got my address labels to get my business out there when I send mail=]I should keep some in my car in case I need to mail out something last minute.

SURVEY TIME!!!

I put together a survey and humor me=]it can help me in the future, thank you!

Review on Emori pearl eye shadow pallet

I got this pallet from my secret santa and the colors are shimmery. The colors are pretty and on dark skin tones you need primer to make the colors come to life,I did swatches on my hand without primer and it was just light shimmer. You can apply the eye shadows wet and dry,dry you get this nice shimmer and the colors are similar to MAC and Urban Decay shimmer eye shadows.Wet you get intense colors and have the metallic look.I used my favorite colors to start out with and since it was Christmas I gone for the green, browns, and golden colors,I used the white for highlight under brow.I did research to see if Emori is cruelty free and couldn't find anything,I realized I still have the packaging.I learned recently China requires animal testing in the country to sell products, that's the main reason why US companies give up their cruelty free status so they can sell in China the country have a nice market,if you can get business there you will profit. The back of the packaging said made in China and I knew my beautiful pallet is not cruelty free,it won't be used on customers that are vegan.I won't throw it out cause its not helping the bunnies referring to my other post, all I can do is not buy it again. It's hard to find products in the US that's not made in China.I'll keep using the pallet and it won't be often since I wear matte colors most of the time,if i'm going out or want to do something fun then I use the pallet.Maybe next year I'll mention I like cruelty free cosmetics and my secret santa is awesome for researching the things I love, the shadows are good quality for 6 to 15 bucks on Amazon.com. If you don't have the same beliefs and would like the pallet go to Amazon search Emori pearl eye shadow 100 colors you should be able to find it.I wore it for 7 hours and applied it wet,did not crease. The instructor at MUD is on to something about applying eye shadows wet,I like to apply it dry first to see if I like it.

This is the pallet:I like the way it opens and close,it took me a min to open it lol.

The colors I used on my eyes,I'll do it again if i'm going to do a pic tutorial to show what colors I used.

 Applied dry pretty shimmer

Applied Wet intense metallic color

Yes I wore green eye shadow a few times and I think green work for me.I'll try the other colors out and I know my lashes are crazy.

My plan for 2014

MERRY CHRISTMAS AGAIN!I didn't think I'll have time to write and I do at 5am. 2014 will be here next week and a wedding to go New Years Eve its 1920 theme,I love the 1920 Hollywood Glamour and I'm a fan of Josephine Baker and Clara Bow.My style is 1950 to modern that threw me a curve ball.Modern makeup also have some inspiration from 1920:smoky eyes and some women have their eye brows thin. I did the flapper thing for Halloween about 5 years ago and I tried to be accurate, I shaved my eye brows off left a little bit of hair to use it guide me in drawing my eye brows the same way women did.I didn't feel like covering my eye brows and it seem like a long process so I just shaved them off,it took 3 weeks to grow back. For the wedding I was thinking to myself they didn't really have much plus size women in the 1920s from the pictures and movies,If you know more info about the 1920's let me know.Back to the subject I was trying to write about,my plan is to have a bigger makeup kit and its not cheap.I watched videos, viewed blogs, and a class(I'll go to more classes in the future) so I know what to have in my kit starting out and it doesn't matter what brands I have along I can make use out of it.You will be seeing MUD,NYX Cosmetics,Wet N Wild, Coastal Scents, and Motives Cosmetics in my kit since it's in a price range I can afford and its cruelty free. If I can get artist discounts from MUD AND NYX that will be sweeeeeeeeeet if not I'll just attend more classes in LA to get discounts or go to a convention.Spending my time networking, have business cards on hand and go to makeup related events to get myself out there. My biggest thing is trying to balance roller derby and my current day job to follow my dream.I know I won't be rich being a makeup artist, right now I just want to do it as side job and see where it take me.There are a lot of makeup artists out there and I'm thinking of strategies making myself stand out.I'm trying to make my makeup kit cruelty free so I can cater to more people. If you read my previous blog"Be Kind to Bunnies" it will give you more info why I want a cruelty free makeup kit.Right now I'm volunteering and doing makeup for trade so get on it before I start charging,it won't be that much due to the brands I'll have. For long term plan is to invest in a camera and new lap top so I can do makeup videos, layaway is a beautiful thing!I'm going to share with you a list of stuff I wrote down I'll need in my kit.Maybe it will help you out too =]

What to have in makeup kit and most of the stuff you can get at dollar tree or Walmart.

  • Eyelash Curler
  • Foundation for every skin tone, that's something you can buy later just find clients you want to work with first.Once you make more money then expand.
  • Setting Powder/Translucent Powder
  • Eye brow pencil or powder, you can use a few eye shadows as powder make sure they are matte colors.
  • Eye brow gel or wax to keep them in place.Clear mascara works the same if you don't want to spend the extra bucks cause it say eye brow gel.
  • Sponges(beware of clients with latex allergies)
  • Makeup remover wipes or bottle
  • Get a label maker to organize your pallets, you don't need one just go to the store and buy some for really cheap labels write it yourself.I just wrote it down for the heck of it.
  • Blushes
  • Brushes(I have to make sure there's no animal fur used and not made in China(they require animal testing)
  • Brush cleaner and I have baby shampoo to clean them.Brush cleaner is for in between uses.

  • Hand wipes when you buy it in bulk flip upside down so the moister don't sit on the bottom.
  • Bobby Pins or hair clips
  • Gum or mints so you can have nice breath when working with people.I have gum to relax myself.
  • BUSINESS CARDS!!!! I took care of that and just got it in the mail.
  • Concealer and I have the deep brown corrector for people of color read my MUD Cosmetic blog.
  • Eyelashes strip and Individual you must learn how to apply them if you want to be a makeup artist. Don't for get the Duo lash glue they work awesome! If your client have latex allergies then don't apply lashes cause lash glue have latex unless there is a brand other I don't know about that don't.I have to make sure the lashes are cruelty free and not made in China
  • Scissors for cutting eye lashes and I can use the scissors for other use.
  • Primer for eyes and face
  • Q-tips I made that trip to dollar tree, there's no excuses for not having them, dig up change LOL.
  • Buy empty containers if you need to de-pot make up,you can use stack able pill jars, pill reminders bead jars etc. They have them at dollar tree=]
  • Bronzer
  • Eyeliner and lip pencils
  • Lip stick and lip gloss
  • Spray bottles, dollar tree!If you get a bad bottle put it in zip lock bag so nothing spills
  • Alcohol to sanitize and got it at dollar tree.
  • Mascara brown and black,if you want to have more colors that is fine.
  • Moisturizer and some primers have it already,it doesn't hurt to have it.
  • Empty bottles and travel size bottles are the best.
  • Blank pallets if you want to use back on hand, its easier to mix stuff on one.
  • Pallet knife or spatula to scrap makeup such as lip stick, foundation and etc. Sanitation is important don't want to gross out client. You can use the end of your makeup brush scrap makeup.
  • Lip gloss wands or lip brush
The things I have already or need to add that YouTube or my blogs didn't list.

  • I need to invest in a cape I don't want to get makeup on people
  • I like to keep a zip lock bag or two.One is for the brushes to clean later or for trash, theirs other uses for them.
  • makeup brush holder so I don't go digging in my bag for stuff.
  • I have a few eye shadow pallets its an easier way to get a bunch of colors and without spending a ton of money.Coastal Scents have good starter stuff and always have some type of sale, for every purchase you make you get points that's a plus. Their makeup is cruelty free and I'm not sure about the brushes. I rather have things in pallets to make it easier to carry things.
  • A bigger makeup carrying case that have wheels they are not cheap to have.
This is my notebook I got from dollar tree to hold my notes, list of things to buy, need and whatever.

What's in my makeup kit and I just got them today!Business cards! They are good to have in makeup case or the purse you carry around you may never know when you have to give them out.Yes I used my legal name for my business.......

Motives Cosmetics

Hello and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!I hope you guys got what you wanted and enjoyed time with your family and friends.I know the majority of you never heard of Motives Cosmetics(Market America) I was on Craigslist looking for makeup related jobs and networking.I found an ad and the business is similar to Avon/Mary Kay but cruelty free.I was interested  in companies that offer discounts to makeup artist or whoever is in the beauty industry,I checked out the website and it was targeting makeup artists. They have brushes, tools, all sort of makeup "professionals" could buy.I did contact the company and some dude off Craigslist he was too far,I wanted someone local.I saw a sponsored ad on Facebook called Customize Cosmetics using Motive Products and I contacted her right away. What attracted me to Motives Cosmetics is the custom blend foundation and I thought it would be perfect to have if I'm doing makeup and it will be a perfect match. After meeting up with Lida from Customize Cosmetics I thought to myself the foundation is for everyday use and buying the custom blend kit is for a makeup artist that have a lot of clients, they can sell to.Most of the time the client will wear the makeup for couple of hours or the whole day,I'm better off buying whats out in the market for cheaper price. Motives have affordable products on their website and I tried them out,I would add them to my makeup kit.I also trying out the custom blend foundation and I'm a powder person, why not give it a shot before I get for my kit.The foundation matches my skin tone perfectly and no one notices I have on makeup. Lida added a glow and anti aging to mine to bring my skin to life.

The con about Custom blend:

50 bucks a bottle

It last for four months due to being natural product you have to wear it daily to get the benefits. Can't sit there for a long time so you use it or trash it.

The Pro about Custom blend:

For sensitive skin

If you're the type of person that want the perfect shade or can't find the shade at the store. Lida can make shades for really light skin tones to really dark.

The product is all natural

You have to wear it daily to see results, you can add skin treatments to your foundation. If you have dry skin it will give your skin moister. If your skin is oily it will take down the shine.

You can make the coverage how you want.

If you are interested in making extra income or want to try out the custom blend contact Lida at
www.facebook.com/customblendfoundationbymotives and the website http://www.motivescosmetics.com if you want to see what other products they have.

Whats in my makeup kit? I just got the Motives Custom Blend Foundation and I like it so far,I'll update in two months to see if my skin improve.Let's see if I remember to put on the foundation everyday to see change

refined gold deep bronzer ,I had this for a while and I love it.It gives my face a nice shimmer and glow to take attention away from my ache scars.I used it as eye shadow and put it on my lips once in a while.

Be Kind to Bunnies.....

I'm not vegan and I explained my belief a bunch of times.I believe in only killing animals for food and torturing them is not nice.I'll wear leather because I eat meat and if its fox or exotic animal I won't wear it.If I ate rabbits and foxes I would wear the fur, that's what the cavemen did they eat the animal they hunted and use their fur to keep warm.Since animal testing is huge in cosmetic industry and brought controversies, its hard to find makeup in the store that is cruelty free. Most of the time really cheap makeup in drugstores are not vegan friendly and there a few that is cruelty free, Wet N Wild, NYX(not sold in every drug store), E.L.F. I may not like their makeup under 3 bucks and its harmless to buy.I hope they stay cruelty free!If you found out a product you are currently using is cruelty free don't just throw them away, all you do is stop buying the product and move on.Throwing them away don't save a bunny =]

I have a small list of products that do harm cute little bunnies if you want a longer list check out PETA and this blog www.mybeautybunny.com they have reviews on cruelty free products and they also inform you on what is cruelty free and not. I'm trying to have a cruelty free makeup kit so I can work with any client and get more business. If I find out they are not I can separate the makeup and items before working on them. If you are reading this and know more products please let me know.

Mean to animals:

Estee Lauder( aka Estee Slaughter,I call them that)

MAC(brought out by Estee Slaughter) MAC use to be cruelty free. I do own MAC products and stop buying them after I found out they are not cruelty free.

Clinique (use to be cruelty free)

Revlon

Cover Girl

Rimel ( I'm not sure if its spelled right,I heard if they are or not.I won't be surprised if they do)

Sephora(they use to not harm bunnies) I loved their makeup time to move on.The store do have few cruelty free products.

Avon (no longer cruelty free and I do purchase the products once in a while)

Mary Kay(use to be cruelty free)

Neutrogena

Smashbox (use to be cruelty free)

Bobbi Brown (use to be cruelty free)

Sally Beauty Supply(I don't know if they carry cruelty free products,we all go there some time)

If you want longer list and you will be surpised who test on animals. About 100% of products we daily are tested on animals.I like staying away from cosmetics that test on animals no animal will die to be on my face.

Now the companies that loves bunnies:

MUD Cosmetics

Urban Decay(only a few products)

Kat Von D

Motives Cosmetics

Sugar Pill

NYX Cosmetics

Wet N Wild

E.L.F.

Lime Crime

and few others I can't name right now.

Whats in my makeup kit? I would take pictures and its covered in makeup so I got one off Google that's cleaner.A must have if you are going to be playing with eye lashes and if you have latex allergies this is not for you.I keep this in my kit if I'm going to put on eye lashes.

I had this for a very long time, that tells you how often I put on makeup lol. Its a nice primer if you want to keep your eye shadow on longer. You gotta have some type of primer in your kit if you are doing makeup.

My visit to MUD Cosmetics in Burbank,ca

I signed up for a free class a month ago cause spots get "sold out" on Eventbrite quick. The class is about smoky eyes and that's the current trend,I wanted to go mainly to learn how to work with different skin tones and what eye shadow to use to complement someone's eyes. The number one thing is discounts on products and if you attend classes you get a good deal on products.Right now I'm working on getting discounts on MUD products so I can have more in my kit.My trip to the class was long and tiring,I left my place enough time and I know I should have been there before 12:30pm the time class starts, then I got caught in bad traffic and I didn't make it till 1pm,I had to ask the store to reconsider since I drove really far and the instructor was a sweet heart THANK GOD!I know God wanted me to go so I can follow my dreams.I enjoyed the class and I learned new tips, after the lunch break we did makeup on our self and the instructor gave us guidance.I didn't need much guidance and I asked few questions, should i use sliver as a highlight under my eye brows and does the deep brown corrector help with ache scars. The instructor knew I had knowledge in make up and the current trends such as gold and silver is used on runways right now,I had no idea it was used on runways I just knew silver and gold go well together.I made a nice impression on the class and instructor it was assurance that I should keep going for what I want and I take it seriously.I proved that just driving almost 3 hours to get to a class with traffic from hell. On the way home traffic is worst,I don't know how people can live in LA and the roads are confusing if you don't travel to LA often.

I took some notes on the back of the ticket I printed out because I forgot to get a notebook, when I get a note book I'll transfer the notes.Notebook is a number one thing to have when you take a class and read the class requirements. My class said to bring makeup brushes and makeup that was a hard task cause I couldn't chose which to take so I brought the whole bag. Here's some of the notes I took.

Makeup don't have to match use a different color when you apply makeup, don't take away from the eye shadow you worked hard on.

Black will darken anything, matte black eye shadow is the way to go if you need to darken the eye shadow.

When you apply makeup wet it will last longer, personally I like to apply the makeup dry and if I want the eye shadow to be intense then I'll apply it wet.I'll try it out when I do bridal makeup cause brides have to be beautiful all day there's cameras every where she goes.

The tip on applying makeup on clients:

Give your client direction and use hand motions.Tell them where you want their head to go,when to look down and up.sometime you have to make a reference to the sky or ceiling depending on where you are or the ground/grass.If you walk away and is still working on application that requires attention tell them to keep looking down or up.Let them know whats going on so they can be comfortable.

Ask if they have latex allergies before you use sponges and other tools.Eye lash glue have latex and I better start asking. Most of the people try on makeup think its the makeup that make them itch. Its the latex in the sponges and few tools they use. That's how people lose sales cause of not using brushes to try it on.

Applying lashes dos and don'ts, don't blow on the eyelashes for it to dry quickly  UNLESS YOU ARE DOING YOUR OWN MAKEUP!!Don't tell them to close their eyes there is a huge chance their eyes will be glued shut, tell them to look down. When applying individual lashes be careful with mascara application up might pull them off. If you are applying mascara on strip lashes don't pull the mascara all the way threw it will ruin the style of lashes.Just wiggle the mascara where the eye lash meet so they can stick together,if the strip lashes are natural and don't have much style you can get away with pulling the mascara all the way.If you want to apply lashes with tweezers or tools make sure you are not a shaky person you don't want accidents,it's ok to use fingers to apply it.

Use eyeliner for water line, power is used under the water line.Ask if the client is comfortable with you going towards the water line.if they tear up go back and fix it.I need to remember to ask that question I just go for it.

When you apply mascara just lift there eyebrows it will prevent blinking,if they try to blink they won't go far.

Sanitation purposes, its always good to have disposables so no double dipping. If you use pencils spray it with alcohol and sharpen them so the client wont wonder if they are clean or not.I most work on people I know and they know I clean my stuff. That's a habit I'll learn and want to make people feel comfortable.

This is the advice I need to remember:Makeup is trial and error,as a Makeup Artist you will make mistakes no matter how good you are and can get out of it,use your knowledge to fix it. Due to my experience doing makeup sporadically, I messed up and I fixed it the results come out nicely the person is happy. There are days when I felt I could have done better on my own makeup, I learned from that and tried a different approach.

What's in my makeup kit?I don't have anything to share in my purse,I have more in my makeup kit. I brought the deep brown corrector and the product is made for dark skin tones. The product even out your skin tone cause there are areas that are darker than the rest of your face.I have ache scars that annoy me and it covered it up.I had to add it to my makeup kit in case I have dark skin tones with the same problem. It comes with directions and I posted a video below to show you how its used. You only need a little bit and it will last a while.

The other stuff I received with my purchase.I got a coupon with additional 40% off and 10 % off of MUD approved items.I got 30% off just doing the class I paid 12 bucks instead of 20 bucks.

This is not a music video is usually post but here is how to use the deep brown corrector.

E.L.F. on a shelf.

There's no "ELF" I'm doing a product review that people been raving about.I decided to give ELF another chance and if you read my previous blog about me doing a review on cheaper makeup. My favorite YouTube channels use ELF products and they might have some awesome stuff.I was at Target yesterday buying baking supplies and I checked out the makeup section like I usually do.ELF had a section with gift sets with eye shadow pallets, eye liners, lip glosses, brushes, few other things.I brought the glitter eyes "gift set"and it was on sale,I paid 2 bucks instead of 3 bucks. On the packaging it said 4 piece and I was standing there thinking I see two pieces.I think they meant 3 eye shadow colors and the primer that came with it.I gone home and tried it out,the eye shadows didn't come with an eye shadow applicator, the directions say to use finger tips or a brush to apply the eye shadow. You guys know how much I HATE CLEANING BRUSHES,I used my finger tip to apply the eye shadow dry along with the primer,on the other eye I applied the eye shadow wet with a q-tip.The primer is sheer and any skin tone can use it,it have a wand applicator and I like to buy primer that comes in the tube.If you are down to the last bit of primer you can cut the tip and scrap it out. With the wand you will waist a little primer cause you can't get to it.It's nice having extra primer anyways, why not........The directions said to apply it wet for intense color and there was nothing intense about it.It looked OK dry and i'm not in love with the product. The packaging is cheap looking and if you see the patterns the eye shadow pallets have it with colors all over the place. If you want to give someone a gift set make sure you peel off the price sticker or it will say "MERRY CHRISTMAS! I SPENT 3 BUCKS ON YOU!"If you go to different stores with ELF products they are always under 3 dollar no matter what it is.Since I'm not in love with their products I'll try out the brushes since a set is a good price,If you want MAC,Sephora, and MUD Cosmetics brushes you will pay over 100 bucks for half a set and for a full it can range up to 300 bucks. That's my review on ELF and I think ELF work better for people with lighter skin tones cause I tried some other products out and didn't like it.Here's a photo below

I don't have anything from my purse to share with you.I just got disposable mascara wands in the mail and its important to have if you want to do makeup on other people for sanitary purposes. I brought it on Ebay for 1.00 and it comes with 100 mascara wands, thats a good deal usually stores sell them for 3.00.

I'm a YouTube Junkie

YouTube you can find videos that teach you how to do makeup, sew, knit, steal gasoline, and rip off vending machines.I knew how to do makeup and watching makeup videos help me improve with my makeup. It gives me inspiration if I want to go for a look and what products to purchase. When I started doing pinup I'll watch how to videos to learn how to do different styles and hair dos.I'll find videos to get advice on starting out and to network,it helps out alot if you want to do your dream job. When ever I have time I'll find my favorite channel and just watch,I tell girls who have trouble doing makeup spend time on YouTube and sometimes it doesn't work out, they call me to do their makeup.Sometime there are bad makeup videos and I'll sit there say to myself "I can soooo do better".I've been thinking about doing my own videos and I need a video camera nice area where there's good lighting for viewers to see my makeup no problem. Its part of my goals for 2014 and maybe YouTube can help me get clients I can do makeup as part time job.

What's in my purse? My favorite mascara and liquid eyeliner linked into one.Its Mark by Avon and its geared towards teens,Mark came out when I was a teenager and It had A LOT OF STUFF.Now Mark have less things to choose from I think Avon figured out its better if we order from the main company.Avon made improvements I mentioned before and I wouldn't order products if my older sister didn't like the products and sell it.The mascara is called "Scanda-lash" and the liquid eyeliner "Get in Line" both of them are black. If you want to give Mark a shot contact Hair and Makeup by Tanika on her Facebook page to order some and tell her little sister sent you.Yes you have photos of my makeup taken by me =]

I was at CVS , I was looking for the blush my friend Shelly used on me for a pinup shoot and there was a sale on Wet N Wild products.Yes I allowed someone else to do my makeup and she did an awesome job!She told me I had nice cheek bones and wanted to bring it out that made me wear blush again. It takes one person to point out your good features make you feel beautiful. They had the blush and I saw Mega sticks the name "In a Tutu" stood out to me and I must buy it.I use to be a dancer and I wore tutus for roller derby for a short time, the lip gloss was meant to be mine. The gloss shows up clear with shimmer I put it on top of my lip stick a few times.I think it might show up golden with orange under tone on lighter skin tones.

Beauty Queen on Wheels

I came up with the name cause beauty queen was already taken on blogger url.My buisness for makeup I came up with makeup by inner beauty queen to stand out and it will attract attention as I get into the beauty industry.I googled makeup by inner beauty queen and its not taken. The wheels came from roller derby ,yes you have some chick that loves makeup and play a tough sport,I broke the stereotype. Roller derby have ups and downs for me, I was glad the season is over to get rest and I was dealing with a painful injury.I've been to every practice and I made sacrifices, put my life and dreams on hold just to skate. That's been eating at me and its the past.I have 2014 to make it up,if there's a good opportunity to put myself out there and do what I need I'll just say no practice and games if I have to.I'm not going to do that to myself and I deserve to go for my dreams even if my league support me or not.I do love skating and being apart of an awesome community I gotta draw the line, the support with in the community is rad.its not about beating each other up in the end.if you need help or starting up a business they are there.I use my  love for makeup to put  raffle prizes together  with tutorials so the fans will get know the skaters.if you want to join roller derby be prepared to commit time and lot of money to play.

What's in my purse?I didn't take my own photos and pictures from online show the product off better.I didn't feel like digging in my purse to get the products and take pictures.

If i didn't keep this in my purse ill be miserable. I love Eco in Tangerine flavor and it last longer than chap stick.

I was at Ulta while ago and I was looking for nude/ neutral color I can wear for my skin tone. The beauty advisor found it for me and fell in love with Stila lipstick color "Ali" and it gives a nice cool feeling when I put it on.I'm open to trying out more Stila products.

You want to buy quality makeup and can't afford it?(review)

Every time I go out I get asked all the time what brand I use, most of the time I'll say I'm wearing different brands on my face did you want to know the eye shadow, face powder, lip stick? Everyone assume the brand I use is MAC due to me being a makeup junkie and pursuing dream of being a makeup artist.I do use MAC and I don't buy it anymore due to my belief.I found out MAC is not cruelty free anymore and Estee Lauder(aka Estee Slaughter) is well known for animal testing brought out MAC I don't know how long ago.I'm not vegan or anything I don't like the idea of animals getting tortured and i'm the kill for food type of person.MAC is great and there are other good brands out there that doesn't get as much hype MAC does.I buy NYX Cosmetics and its cruelty free the products are awesome for a very reasonable price anyone can afford. They have similar colors to MAC and other "high end" makeup brands. The reason why I fell in love with NYX Cosmetics cause they have the matte black eye shadow that I've been looking for all my life.I love REALLY black eye shadows and I thought MAC pro is the only one that will have it.If I couldn't get my black eye shadow as dark as I want I'll grab a Kohl pencil use it as a base and put my eye shadow on top of it.If you have dark skin most black eye shadows show up smoky or natural when you want something intense.MAC's Beauty Marked shows up as shimmery black on me and lighter skin tones it shows up as a pretty dark purple with black under tone with sparkle.I read a blog a while back about cosmetic brands going to the same company in Europe to make the makeup and slap their label on it.If you see Urban Decay,Sephora, NYX Cosmetics and few other brands have SIMILAR COLORS AND SIMILAR ITEMS.If you are a makeup junkie you had the idea things are same and you are paying for the name.I had a suspicion a few brands copy each other and once I read the blog i said " I knew it!"I love Kat Von D and few of her colors I can get cheaper buying the Sephora brand or NYX ( 24.00 cheaper). I didn't mind paying for Kat Von D name cause i'm a fan and I love her tinted lip gloss Underage Red,not all brands have the same color as Underage Red it was worth the money I paid. After reading this you probably will look at makeup differently, once I start doing makeup I'm sure Ill shock a lot of clients of what brands i'm using on them and it turns out good and long lasting.I use some of the Wet N Wild brands and when I tell people I wear it they are like really, yes you can pay under 5 bucks and still look good.My current favorite is the blush and lip gloss. If you go to those "high end" store compare your cheaper makeup you will see resemblance.I know you guys shop at Walmart and seen this brand E.L.F. for under 4 bucks at first I didn't like E.L.F. I tried their potted eyeliner cream or whatever,I didn't like it and I tried out their Highlighter Shimmering Whip(pictured below) the color is called Spotlight,it gave me this ashy look with shimmer.I would take a pic of it myself and it wouldn't show up well so I took the image off a site.I did my team mates makeup and put it on her and it look good on her,I'll keep it in my kit use and use it on lighter skin tones.I'll will try other E.L.F.products cause some of my favorite makeup junkies on YouTube uses the products. They have nice makeup brushes and for a whole set is 50 bucks and thats a deal. Most brands will charge over 100 bucks for a set.If you are on a budget look into E.L.F. you might love it.Also another brand sold at Walmart is Hard Candy and I brought their glitter eye liner"Walk the Line" sliver glitter, its my favorite glitter eye liner and it doesn't dry out.last a long time. The only NYX product i didn't like was their glitter eye liner if you leave it your makeup kit for a while its dried up and useless.I wouldn't buy glitter eye liners from NYX. Hard Candy eye shadows I was told you need a eye shadow primer or wet it to make the colors pop.The same thing with E.L.F. you might have to buy their primer to make the shadows come to life.Keep that in mind when you buy eye shadow primer works for everything no matter how much you pay.You can get eye shadow from 99 cent store and it will stay on your eyes.I use the eye shadow primer from Two Faced and I might try out the Urban Decay primer.Theonly thing I pay more money for is foundation and powders few other things. Not all brands will work for me in the face department and I have sensitive skin,I cant go out and pick up anything. The more you pay for foundation and powders the better it looks and longer it last.If Cover Girl and drug store stuff works well with your face and love it,thats awesome! There are some snobby people that will look down on you or think expensive makeup is always the best, if you don't spend the money to look beautiful.

What's in my purse?I have lip pencil from MAC the color is Cherry and I had many uses for it.I use it when I did my war paint for roller derby or if i couldn't find red eye shadow I'll use it on my eyes.I wear it with my Kat Von D Underage Red tinted lip gloss.

One of my favorite Avon products Extra Lasting eye shadow "Terra Cotta" and its a nude/neutral color on my skin tone and I use it if i'm going some where after work when I need something quick to put on.If you want to try it out be careful when you open it or you will wear it on your shirt. The eye shadow last for a long time. With Avon the brand is a hit and miss with me.I would buy more and try out other eye shadows. If you want to buy it my older sister sells Avon and that is why I buy it.Avon improved over the years and I'm fan of their Mark line too.Contact my sister on facebook Hair and Makeup by Tanika and tell her I sent you.

What I dislike about makeup....

IS CLEANING BRUSHES!*screams*.Playing in makeup is fun and all,the cleaning the brushes I dread especially if i try to get gel eyeliner out of brushes.if you dont have much money to spend like me, I contacted a few makeup junkies and artist the cheapest way to clean brushes without spending money to keep buying makeup brush cleaner.what stood out to me is baby shampoo or  shampoo hair salons use.I brought a bottle of daily brush clear from Sephora about 6 months ago for 6 bucks its a smaller bottle the larger one was over 10 bucks, the brush cleaner is good to have if you are going to work in high volume and quick cleanup . Of course i go the dollar tree for baby shampoo to clean my brushes.
OH NO!Oh F**K!S**T!I screwed up!Don't worry Makeup For Ever's mist and fix will save the day.if you get fall out from eyeshadow or screw up the cat eye,it happens. Grab a clean brush or q-tip and spray the brush your error will be erased. They sell it at Sephora for 6 bucks and i got the smaller bottle. Makeup For Ever is not cheap and its similar to MAC,you have extra cash to drop buy it.I try to go for Sephora brands or NYX cosmetics if its available.
What's in my purse?I love Avon's Always on Point eyeliner in black and i have another one in black/brown,i keep in makeup kit.Its a cool eyeliner and the name say it all,you close the cap and if you need more twist the cap until you hear *click click* and theres more eyeliner. I got into Avon because my older sister Tanika sells it and Avon improved on the makeup.if you want to buy Avon contact Hair and Makeup by Tanika on her Facebook page, she will order it.

From My Makeup Kit

This year I decided to go forward with my dream of doing makeup and if you read my blog "Beauty Queen" it give you an insight on why I want to do this. When I was in high school I volunteer to do makeup for a play and I didn't do a bad job.I used the makeup that is provided and some I brought from home,I even brought my own brushes.Since then I've been doing makeup for my friends sporadically for fun and recently I was asked to do makeup for my team mate for our league awards.I play roller derby and I'll get to that later. In January(next month) I'll be working on clients and when working on clients sanitation is important. Due to being on a budget I pick up a few items every paycheck to build my kit, from advice to spending time watching YouTube videos.I checked out my local "discount"stores to buy cleaning and sanitation products,if you can't find it there is Walmart. The products you see in the photo I brought recently except for cosmetic sponges. The spray bottle, rubbing alcohol,q-tips,zip lock bag is from Dollar Tree.I use the spray bottle to clean my brushes and few cosmetic items, the alcohol is to sanitize eyeliner, lip liner, and more items. It depends on what kind of eye and lip pencil you have,I grab the spray bottle with alcohol and spray the pencils,i wipe it with a paper towel and sharpen the pencil.I was told to just sharpen away the "germs" and I like to clean with alcohol to assure my items are clean.Q-tips have a billion uses and its always good to have them in your kit. I use the plastic bag to hold items,to dispose and a place to put dirty makeup brushes. When i have one person for the day I just throw whatever need to be cleaned in the bag and wash them when I get home.If I ever work with more than one person,I prefer to work with three people threw out the day right now so I can take my time on the make up.The spray bottle will come in handy if I need to do a quick clean up.Be careful with spray bottles make sure its tight before you throw it in your makeup bag,if the bottle is not good just put it in zip lock bag so it doesn't spill.Cosmetic sponges are easy to find and you can get a bunch for 2 to 5 bucks depending on quantity. When Halloween is near I'll check out my local store and pick up stuff,Halloween stores are a place to go if you need applicators, brushes, cosmetic sponges for a lower price. If you are an online shopper use your favorite search engine to find lower priced stuff.I'm an Ebay shopper and I'll buy stuff in bulk if the seller offers a better deal.

I don't like to carry a lot of stuff and having pallets make is easier for me to carry around. When working with customers you need every color you can get,I was on Ebay and I saw a pallet for 120 colors cheaper than Coastal Scents, ill try out Coastal Scents one day.I tried it out and I liked it before using it on my first customer. The pallet have matte and shimmer colors to play with, the con about the pallet some of the colors are not easy to blend and if you are not good at blending the pallet is not for you.I was told Coastal Scents and BH is easy to blend. The other con if you are a darker completion not all of the colors are going to work for you.I tried out the pinks and it didn't show up on my skin, the black is not dark to my liking.I'll stick to using NYX Cosmetics Black matte eye shadow. The only pink eye shadow that yells i am pink on my eyes, MAC Pink Venus.I gave the eye shadow away to a friend cause I didn't use it much.I'm the type of person that like to match the eye shadow with the outfit i'm wearing,I put on purple outfit you will see purple. The only time I wont match if i'm going to a formal and I don't want to take away from the dress. If I really want to match my eye shadow with my dress i just add it inner corner or crease depending on look I am going for.Threw out the blog I'll share whats in my makeup kit.

What's in my purse: It's obvious I love Sephora's matte foundation powder,I'm a powder person and not a huge fan of liquid and creme foundation.I keep this in my purse in case I have some where to go after work.I don't wear makeup to work since i'm in a warehouse all day and on the track for roller derby.I do wear makeup if i'm at a roller derby convention or event to show case my makeup skills.
